Q&A

Is 3D Design a BIM?

BIM technology is a method of designing and executing an investment based on a digital three-dimensional model of a building. It streamlines the investment process, at all stages of its implementation - designing, scheduling, costing, implementing and managing the finished facility. Thanks to a consistent multi-branch model we are able to predict and avoid many costly collisions at the design stage. This model also allows faster and easier communication between all participants in the investment process (designer, contractor, investor, manager).

What are computer simulation systems used for?

Computer simulations have been used for years in aerodynamics, engineering, hydraulics, meteorology, construction, and many other fields. It is necessary to carry out such a simulation in the design of the building, if the simplified standard analysis does not provide assurance that the technical requirements are met, eg. in the case of atrial or buildings with mezzanine. These buildings are increasingly proposed by architects for functional and architectural advantages.

What is the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)?

As is well known, the correct action of the ventilation system is one of the key safety parameters that traditional installations are unable to provide. Improper ventilation may cause serious risks to human health or the environment. Sometimes theoretical values turn out to be wrong because the calculation formulas do not provide for all scenarios and variants.
There are only two verification methods: Motion Test after installation or Numeric Dynamics of Fluid (CFD - Computational Fluid Dynamics). Using CFD simulation in the design of ventilation systems allows you to verify its effectiveness at the design stage.
Developing a CFD fire simulation is possible by:
• a three-dimensional model of the object being analyzed according to real architecture ie. type and distribution of the building partitions and heating elements,
• computer analysis of Navier-Stokes equations,
• define boundary assumptions and fire scenarios, ie. the power, source and location of the fire in the facility concerned.

What is the installation balancing?

Hydraulic balancing is the adjustment of design flows to real world conditions and also trouble shooting in installations. This is a very important activity in the investment process related to equipping new buildings in heating, cooling and hot water systems. In addition, it is also an important aspect of the rationalization of energy consumption in exploited builidings undergoing complex thermal modernization.

Is Revit a BIM?

BIM is a concept that has revolutionized the approach to design, investment and building management. BIM, or Building Information Modeling, provides continuous and immediate access to project information, costs and schedules. It also simplifies the design process, by being able to test in the virtual world a variety of variants and schemes to select the optimum one. The results of the tests are consistent and reliable with ever better reflecting reality through a single digital model. It can be used to make design decisions, develop consistent building documentation, analyze profitability and estimate the cost of an investment, and eventually also to manage the facility. By working on one model, companies involved in design, building and management can significantly improve their efficiency and reduce the number of errors that occur throughout the documentation process. Digital design data coupled with innovative parametric information modeling technology provide significant benefits over traditional design and construction methods.
The Building Information Modeling (BIM) concept helps plan and visualize buildings that are significantly more energy-efficient, consume less water, and provide better air quality. Owing to this, architects and constructors are able to specify not only the architecture, construction and layout of the interiors, but also the behavior of the object in the future. BIM allows to gather information from each of the three main phases of the building's life, thereby greatly facilitating sustainable design.
BIM is not a technical solution in and of itself. Especially for the implementation of this concept, Revit has been developed - a parametric modeling solution for buildings, which automatically coordinates changes to the project and its documentation. The Revit platform ensures consistency, up-to-date and access to data in an integrated digital environment. Thanks to this, architects, designers, interior designers and investors have a holistic view of the project. Just as a spreadsheet is used for processing calculations, software using parametric building modeling is a project-processing tool. And just like the new data introduced into the spreadsheet, it automatically updates all other information without the user's intervention, so every change introduced during the parametric modeling process is instantly reflected throughout the project.
Revit software, which supports BIM technology, enable visualize and understand the idea of design, space, interoperability of various systems, and all facilities in the structure, that will enable it to function in the future. Modeling and simulation of reality in the digital world gives endless analytical and presentation possibilities, which has a huge impact on understanding and popularization of environmentally friendly solutions.
